I’m in! I donated to the Ronald McDonald House today. This was a fun way to do a give-away. By the way, what ever happened to the rice fields?

I just made a donation to the World Wildlife Federation, and I recently made a donation to the Colitis and Crohn’s Foundation, but that was to sponsor someone doing a walk. You have inspired me to think about another donation, though!

    Hi,

Because of knitting, I am now a yearly contributor to Doctors Without Borders, and also contributed fleece tie blankets and knitted hats to the Dulaan project in Outer Mongolia before that part of the project folded. And I would l-o-o=ve a kimono. Hope I win.
    Thanks, Jan.

    Cheers, Kathy

There is no such thing as coincidence. I met a really nice lady while looking at pattern books several months ago. She and her church are teaching prostitutes in Mexico to sew so they can earn a living doing something other than sell themselves. They were looking for older model machines and any supplies. I had just gotten a “spare” machine from freecycle that was perfect to give her and raided the stash too. Along with more donations from freecyclers she took out a lot. Now today I had another response to my request for more of those same things on a freecycle site and that was sitting for several months forgotten.

Thanks for helping us pay it forward!

Thanks for contacting me and your comments on my blog. I truly can’t imagine what it is like to lose so much. We are looking for more ways to help. Besides the fabric donations to our quilters, my husband and I donated insulation to an older gentleman that was flooded out of his house not once but twice this last year. I’m looking for other ways to help flooding victims in Wisconsin. My sister is working with local artists and they are converting and decorating leftover sand bags into purses to sell as a fundraiser for Iowa flood victims. What a creative idea. I’m enjoying your blog. Thanks for including me.

I just donated art squares for an art doll that is going up for a drawing to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as I am making a 10×10 quiltlet AND a padfolio for runner up gifts for the drawing. There is a button (Pink Artist) on my blog if you care to visit the website and see the doll which is going to be in Art Doll Quarterly’s Summer edition. It’s very exciting.

Hi there! I recently discovered your blog and love it. As someone who loves shibori and will be in Japan this October, I’m super-excited about the give-away. I have donated to two charities/nonprofits – a domestic abuse shelter called Eagle’s Nest and my local Textile Center. Hope this qualifies me.
p.s. Is there any way for me to buy a fish from you if my name isn’t picked?? Thanks!

I found your blog from Eric Gower’s breakaway kitchen site – love it! I am a quilter also and huge fan of Japanese fabrics/influences. My husband and I went last year and can’t wait to get back. I would love to enter your kimono drawing, if I still can (time difference and all…). We donate to Doctors Without Borders and the American Humane Society every two weeks (direct withdrawl from our paychecks), plus the North Shore Animal Welfare League. Thanks so much!
