…lingering jet lag…

I would have to say that jet lag gets worse and worse as one grows older.  If this is true, then as I get older, I will be less and less enthusiastic about trips to the states…and with the way prices and airline charges are going, this could be a good thing.  I feel as if I am submerged in water and all thought and motion is on “DULL” phase….hopefully this feeling will pass and not remain my permanent condition. At this time I would like to share some random photos from the trip. I will reserve witty commentary and clever quips until another day, when I feel a bit sharper.

The Northwest Washington Fair was one of the highlights of our trip and the kids got great value from their ride all day passes.  Next post I will share some quilt excitement.  One final photo about how to enjoy the  Pacific Northwest weather………

there I sat holding three bags of barf.

UFF DA.  little plane. big plane-long flight ( Little Kai was holding on to a bag and barfing as we walked off the plane….) -In Tokyo I was finger printed and photographed at immigration and when I went through security I had to remove my belt and shoes because I kept on beeping… the fact that I was a mom accompanied by three zombie children sleepwalking, one holding a barf bag and hurling didn’t get me any special treatment…on to the  little plane, which we were the last to board because Kai was in the bathroom hurling again and Kazu was on the floor and I was barely able to rouse him….  The final flight, thank buddha for barf bags. There was a point where each kid was retching his/her guts out all AT THE SAME TIME.  The two pretty flight attentants were busy handing out a cup of beverage and then selling duty free to all so they weren’t much help.  The people sitting around us were pretty cool and tried to help out as much as was possible during the TURBULANCE and SEATBELT sign.  All in all smooth travels … oh, we got out of Seattle late (one hour) because we had to taxi back to the gate for some hydrolic maintanence…but no complaints (besides the barf).

Oh, I just checked and I just celebrated a blog anniversary!!!  I started this little experiment last year August 20  to see if I could keep up with my brother and his travels…. well he isn’t around much and it has turned in to a crafting blog….. I can not express in words how fabulous it has been getting in touch with the loyal 5 or so people that check in regularly and the 10 or so more who pop in every once in a while.  Also to my family who are there all the time for me.    THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

Oh, and today, my head is pounding, I have no oomph and, yah, feel kind of sick.  Jet Lag sucks!!!! I think that tomorrow I will be back to normal and can start cleaning the house (dirty, yucky moldy) and unpacking all the wonderful things I bought in the great land of America. Will share photos when I get the gumption to download some…. until then………

yours truly…..

shiver me timbers…

with thanks to Bette Midler, this song sums it up pretty good right now…

We’ll, I’m leaving my family
I’m leaving all my freinds
My body’s at home, but my heart’s in the wind
And the clouds are like headlines
Upon a new frontpage sky
My tears are saltwater, the moon’s full and high

And I know Joe Comrad
Would be proud of me
Many before me ‘been called by the say:
‘To be up in the crow’s nest,
Singing my sayin’:
Shiver me timbers, let’s all sail away’

And the fog’s lifting, the sand’s shifting
I’m drifting on out
Old captain Ahab’s got nothing on me
Swallow me, don’t follow me
I’m travelling alone
The water’s my daughter
I’ll skip like a stone

And the fog’s lifting, the sand’s shifting
I’m drifting on out
Old captain Ahab’s got nothing on me
Swallow me, don’t follow me
I’m travelling alone
The water, she is my daughter
I’ll skip like a stone

Won’t you please call my family?
Tell ’em not to cry
My goodbyes are written by the moon in the sky
Say, nobody knows me
I got no reason to stay..
Shiver me timbers..
I’m sailing.. Away..

shopping at Michael’s today

hello all and I would appreciate some opinions.  I am heading in to Michael’s today with a 40 percent off coupon.  First of all, I saw a set of LINEN EMBROIDERY FLOSS and wonder if I want some.  I have lots and lots of regular stuff… what does the linen do???  OR, if anyone has any other suggestions for me, what do you think I should buy with my coupon????  We are leaving in a few hours!!!!!

Jet Lag and life in general

wow. without a hitch and with smooth connections all the way, here we are in Lynden.  Safeway is just across the street (including Starbucks) and I am on my way to eating all that I can in just 3 weeks.

My Amazon order(s) have arrived and I have several great books to bring back with me. After the 33 degree humid summer weather in Nagasaki, the 20 degree afternoons here are BLISS.  Bliss I tell ya. BLISS.

The kimono drawing is ON AS SCHEDULED…. with 14 people entered and 2 winners, the odds are good!!!!!! My mom is quite disappointed that she doesn’t get to share in the loot, but you know, she does have lots of stuff from Japan that I have brought her over the years.

Let’s see what kind of pictures my dad has in his computer files…..
